I found myself in turbulent waters this week. Not because I commute in the Baltic sea, but because I was passed up for a promotion a few days ago.
It’s a strange sensation to feel both relief and disappointment at the same time. The fact that I was passed up is a strong signal to me and my position in the company I work for. I’m either not doing a good enough job, or I’m not being seen. Perhaps the answer to that will reveal itself sometime in the near future.
Am I naive for seeing the silver lining in most things? Perhaps, but working towards a goal for a while and then not reaching it, can be wonderful in many ways. I find myself dedicating more time to my family alongside personal projects. I feel great. Tuesday was very disappointing, but I’m already enjoying this new found freedom.
I hope you can find some joy today as well. It’s out there, hiding in plain sight.
